The cookware market is full of "copper" pans that are actually copper-plated aluminum, copper-colored stainless steel, or mixed alloys containing nickel, chromium, and other metals you wouldn’t choose to eat.
We don’t ask you to take our word for it. Every pan is made from 99.9% pure copper, independently tested by SGS (the world’s leading inspection and certification company) and verified FDA-compliant for food contact under 21 CFR 175.300.
The tin interior is pure food-grade tin - classified GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the FDA. No alloys. No coatings. No PFAS. No PTFE. No question.
Use the magnet test: real copper is non-magnetic. If a magnet sticks, it’s copper-plated steel. If it’s suspiciously lightweight, it’s copper-plated aluminum. Real solid copper has noticeable heft and warmth.
SGS is the world’s leading inspection, verification, and certification company. Our SGS certificate independently verifies the copper body is 99.9% pure - no mixed alloys, no hidden metals. A certificate ships with every pan.
FDA-compliant means the materials meet federal safety standards for direct food contact under 21 CFR 175.300. Our tin lining is classified GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) - the FDA’s highest food-safety designation.
Non-Toxic. No PFAS, no PTFE, no synthetic coatings. The entire cooking surface is pure tin - FDA-classified as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe). Your food touches nothing artificial.
Naturally Non-Stick. European Tin Lining™ has naturally low surface energy similar to gold. Food doesn’t bond with it. And unlike Teflon, it gets MORE non-stick with use as the tin develops a natural patina called "culottage."
Unmatched Heat. Copper conducts heat 25x faster than stainless steel. No hot spots. No cold zones. Your entire pan reaches temperature in seconds, so you cook at lower heat while preserving more nutrients.
Naturally Antimicrobial. Copper’s oligodynamic effect eliminates 99.9% of bacteria on contact. The same science hospitals use for touch surfaces built into your cookware.
Built To Outlast You. Pure copper doesn’t degrade, chip, or flake. When the tin eventually wears (years from now), it’s re-tinned and you have a brand-new cooking surface. One pan. Forever.
Every non-stick pan you’ve owned has a dirty secret: the coating starts peeling the day you buy it. PFAS. PTFE. "Ceramic" that’s really just a different chemical spray. All of them degrade into your food.
European Tin Lining™ is different. Pure molten tin is hand-applied to the copper surface using Étamage - the centuries-old French technique trusted by Michelin-star kitchens for over 200 years. The tin doesn’t sit ON the copper. It fuses WITH it at the molecular level.
The best part? A well-used tin surface actually improves. French chefs call it "culottage", a natural seasoning that makes food release even easier over time. Your pan at year five performs better than your pan on day one.
Étamage is the centuries-old French technique of hand-applying pure molten tin to copper cookware. Tin is heated to 450°F and hand-wiped onto the copper, creating a molecular bond. Unlike spray-on coatings that sit on top (and eventually flake off), tin fuses with the copper permanently. This is the same method used in professional French kitchens for 200+ years.
Kalai (कलई) is the traditional Indian art of hand-hammering and tin-lining copper vessels - a craft passed down through generations of artisan families. Our pans combine Indian Kalai craftsmanship for the copper body with French Étamage for the tin lining. We call it The Indo-French Technique™.
Hand‑wash your copper pan with warm water, a little mild soap, and a soft sponge, then dry it immediately with a cloth to prevent water spots or staining. Avoid dishwashers, steel wool, and harsh abrasives, which can damage both the copper exterior and the soft tin lining. If the outside dulls or develops spots, you can gently restore its shine with a lemon‑and‑salt rub or a dedicated copper polish, taking care not to scrub the interior tin.
Always cook on low–to–medium heat and never preheat the pan empty on high, as excessive heat can soften or warp the tin. Store the pan fully dry in a low‑humidity spot, and if stacking, place a soft cloth or paper towel between pans to protect the surfaces.
A $30 non-stick lasts 2–3 years before leaching PFAS. Over 20 years: 7–10 pans = $210–$300, each a health liability.
A $199 copper pan re-tinned once ($50–75) lasts 20+ years. Total: $249–$274 for a pan that never leaches chemicals and becomes an heirloom.
The real question: "Why are you willing to cook on a $30 chemical coating?"
Tin is FDA GRAS for food contact. Used as cookware lining for 800+ years.
Yes, tin melts at 450°F/232°C. But you should never cook that hot. Optimal sautéing: 250–375°F. The temps where tin has a problem are the same temps where non-stick releases toxic fumes.
Cook on low-medium heat (copper’s conductivity makes this easy) and the tin lining serves you for years.
Yes, the brass handle gets warm during extended stovetop use. True of any solid metal handle (cast iron, carbon steel). Use a kitchen towel or silicone cover.
Why brass? Plastic degrades. Silicone wraps crack. Brass lasts forever and goes in the oven.
Tin-lined copper provides naturally low-stick cooking - not Teflon’s frictionless surface, and we won’t pretend it is.
Eggs, fish, sauces, vegetables: Excellent release with butter or oil. Results match or beat stainless steel on first use, improving as the culottage patina develops.
French chefs never scour tin linings because that golden patina IS the non-stick surface
No. Copper is non-magnetic. If you have induction, this pan isn’t for you and we’d rather tell you now than after delivery.
Works on: gas, electric, ceramic glass, halogen, open flame/campfire.
Because your pan doesn’t exist yet when you order. Our artisans begin hand-hammering after your order. Each takes 72+ hours.
Total delivery: 2–4 weeks (crafting + international shipping from India).
We could warehouse factory pans and ship in 2 days. We chose not to. Hand-hammering creates micro-textures that improve heat distribution, no machine can replicate this.
We hear you. Here’s what makes us different:
We show our real 4.2-star average because hiding behind a fake 4.9 is what scam companies do.
Most "copper" cookware is copper-plated aluminum or stainless steel with a cosmetic layer:
Our pan is solid copper 99.9% verified. The magnet test proves it: real copper is non-magnetic.
With proper care (low-medium heat, no metal utensils, hand-washing), the lining lasts years. Heavy daily use: re-tinning after 5 to 10 years.
Cost: $50–$75 to restore to like-new. This is why copper is an heirloom renewable, not disposable.
We’re developing our own re-tinning service for HOA customers.
The tin lining creates a complete barrier between copper and food. Copper never contacts what you’re cooking. Tin itself is FDA GRAS and inert.
Copper toxicity applies to unlined copper with acidic foods exactly why our pans are lined with tin. Intact tin = zero copper exposure to food.
Same safety principle used in European professional kitchens for centuries.
The 9.5-inch copper pan measures 9.25 inches across the rim, with a 6.3-inch flat cooking surface and a depth of 1.75 inches. Including the handle, it measures 15.9 inches overall and weighs just 2 lb, making it lightweight and easy to handle while cooking.
